Calder Drags Friday 5th May 2017

Date Posted:5 May 2017

We headed down to Calder Park on Friday night for the Off Street Drags/King of the Hill.  It wasn't an overly busy night, meaning we could get a few runs in with the cars.  Unfortunately, for us the Territory broke a rear left and front right drive shaft out on it's first run whilst launching. We didn't have enough spares to repair it on the night, so it put an end to the night early and also an end to getting that elusive 9 second pass we have been after! Good news is we had our work VZ ute out with its new 275X radials on the back after a big 16 hour work day to get the tubs done during the week. The car was driven by our close friend Brent Coleman, who has become the secondary IMS pilot for the car when the Tezza is out. Happy to say that the ute ran its best time ever getting in to the 9's for the first time since it has been on the track. The best time for the night was a 9.76 @144mph with a relatively soft and conservative street tune. We are looking forward to winding this one up and seeing where it takes us. Rob was also out with his 1 VY One Tonner, also on a new set of 275X radials. But unfortunately the car retired early due to suspension malfunction as a result of too much grip! These tyres are just bad ass and this is one car to look out for in the future.
